Developing a global portfolio

As a result of the acquisitions Tamaya has moved from being a single copper mine operation to become a Group with a global portfolio that includes a copper mine, a gold mine near production, a number of advanced gold exploration projects and a portfolio of copper and gold exploration tenements in four countries.

Key operations to include:
 
  • Punitaqui, Chile – operating mine undergoing expansion
  • Lichkvaz (gold), Armenia – ready for development subject to financing
  • Andean copper belt exploration leases, Chile – 40 kilometre long holding in under - explored section
  • Montemor and Portalegre, Portugal – advanced gold exploration leases.

Tamaya published its first resource estimate for the Group, as at Sept 2007. The consolidated Group resource position currently stands at:

Gold: 1,742,902 ounces in all
resource categories

Copper: 302,770 tonnes in all
resource categories

Silver: 4,465,738 ounces in all
resource categories

The group has increased its copper resource by more than 150%, to over 300,000 tonnes and now also includes a significant gold resource for its assets in Armenia and Portugal; in total some 1.74 million oz.Au.

In 2008 and 2009, approximately 190,000m of drilling is planned across the Group’s project pipeline offering the opportunity for significant resource growth.

The Updated Mine Reserve for Tamaya’s Cinabrio Mine in Chile includes a total mine reserve of 5.8 million tonnes grading 1.20 % Copper, and 4 g/t silver.

This represents an increase of 45 per cent on the February 2007 reserve tonnage and an increase of 47 per cent in copper metal in reserve.
